Nigel Geer
Helen Minshall
Helen thoroughly enjoys playing with the Blue Barons. Having originally worked with Nigel in the 1990, she re-joined the band in 2014 and has never looked back!
After a successful 15 years as Head of Brass for Bolton Music Service, Helen is now pursuing a freelance career, and has set up a very successful music teaching company, Minshall Music LTD.
Helen's many years of hard work with young people in brass bands were formally recognized in 2014 when she was presented with the Mortimer Medal for services to young brass players from the Worshipful Company of Musicians.
Toby Hobson
Toby has been playing for the Barons since 2014. He started playing the Tuba in Cumbria with the local music service and studied at the Royal Northern College of Music for 4 years in 1992.
While at college he started playing for local Brass Bands and eventually joined The Fodens band where he recorded over 30 commercial CDs and went on to win the National Finals, The British Open and The All England Masters on 3 occasions.
Toby has toured Europe, Scandinavia, America and Japan. These days, as well as playing for The Barons, he teaches brass instrumental music for Bolton Music Service and directs various Youth, Senior and Special needs music groups.
Final Oktoberfest gig of 2018 and they're really going for it in Wakefield!
The Barons were in fine form at The Engine Shed in Wetherby!
